Impossible to help Somalia says aid group chief

Sun 2011-Sep-4 @ +08 21:17:46 pm

Médecins Sans Frontières [Doctors Without Borders] is constantly being forced to make tough choices in deploying or expanding our activities, in sticking to our principles of neutrality with the daily realities of people going without healthcare, without food. Our staff face being shot. But glossing over the man-made causes of hunger and starvation in the region and the great difficulties in addressing them will not help resolve the crisis. Aid agencies are being impeded in the area.

MSF has been working in Somalia for 20 years, and we know that if we are struggling then others will not be able to work at all. The reality on the ground is that there are serious difficulties that affect our abilities to respond to need.
Dr Unni Karunakara
International president, Médecins Sans Frontières

    nst,

You have forgotten one other important man that can, the grand son of the untouchable pariah from Kerala, the shenanigan Mahathir.
He helped the Palestine with everything he could think of and wonder why he is not doing anything here ? Is it because he will not get any political mileage out of it. The Somali too is also a muslim country yet he went to pay his condolences when the camera man was killed. Why ?
It is so obvious that all the politicians especially the deceitful and corrupted Umnoputra, including the P.M. who was on a holiday in Perth with his family, are all jumping and flying into the bandwagon before he is left out of it, for political mileages especially when it is so near the GE otherwise it is just a professional hazard.
Almost everyday a Malay Malaysian dies and will be forgotten for sure, when there is no political mileage to go with it, especially when it is near the GE, These deceitful Umnoputras politicians will, at any inconveniences and cost , be there to shed their crocodile tears. The only thing they have yet to do is to make the late cameraman a national hero protecting the country to score even higher political mileage. Or have I jumped the gun ?

There is only 1 hope for Somalia to be saved is by sending all the great warriors of Perkosa, Silat Pinca, Pekim, GAP, those Penang mamaks etc who have been shouting hoarse for another May 13 back home or threats to Bersih. These very fearless warriors will definitely scare the hell out of these armed thugs when they go there and shout threats.Nobody can do it except these legends.

What people don’t get is that countries that are as torn apart as that need a dictatorship. The problem with western aid is that they have hippies going on and on about “human rights” when the situation on the ground is simply that of many warlords attacking aid shipments and using hunger as a tool to control the local population.

You want to bring peace and end hunger? You need to “reset” the country. Declare martial law, disarm everybody. Anybody so much as seen to be causing trouble will be shot on sight. Treat everybody as a prisoner with no rights, compulsory relocation and registration – just like how we fought the communists in Malaya with the new village solution. Adults and Children must be re-educated, pacifism is the order of the day.

In other words, the solution to the problem in somalia is political suicide for any politician in a western country.
